There are a great many hardwood timber species
in the world but only a very few are suitable for
outdoor furniture. Jatoba (Courbaril) combines the
most desirable attributes; good weathering qualities
and attractive appearance, making it ideal for the
purpose. An equally important factor is it's sustainability;
being selectively felled from managed forests in
the Demerara region of Guyana under the strict guidelines
of the Guyana Forestry Commission.
Both the Government of Guyana and the Guyana Forestry
Commission are committed to the sustainable utilisation
of their forest resources for social, ecological
and economic benefits.
One key policy element is the use of forest resources
to make value added products locally for which Precision
are the leading exponents. Log tagging and tracking
allows for verification of the origin of timber
used, from the forest to the factory.
